Merry Christmas!

Wishing all of you and yours a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

Monday, December 17, 2007

Something sure smells good.....

It's one of my favorite part of Christmas......baking!

Okay, actually eating it is my favorite part but I promised myself I would be good this year. You see, I started Weight Watchers about two or so months ago and I'm a half a pound away from 20lbs lost!! Yay me!!

Now, I'm no angel so it ain't gonna be a sweet-free Christmas but I'm still trying hard to take everything in moderation because I've been working so hard at the weight loss.

After Christmas it will be time to pump up the volume and add more extensive exercising to the routine (ick, not liking that).

But as long as smelling doesn't add weight then I'm doing great LOL.

I LOVE this time of year! Everything gets so cozy because the weather outstide is sooooo cold.

We went to the kids' school's tree lighting and silent auction night. The basket got a lot of hits, I was pleased with the interest. A number of the teachers came up joking around at my 'Secret Identity' LOL.

Wishing everyone a cozy week!!

Basket of Books

The boys' school is having a Tree Lighting night and Silent Auction as a fundraiser next week. I've donated a basket with my books and some other goodies. I was so pleased with the way it turned out that I wanted to show it off! It should be interesting because I don't think anyone at the school knows I'm an author too LOL. Let's put it this way, when I emailed them to see if they accepted donations, even though I put my name, they assumed the email was from my husband and thrilled thinking his department store wanted to donate something--Yeah, kind of an awkward letter back saying sorry for the misunderstanding but just a lowly romance writer donating some Christmas romance LOL. BUT, after a laughing apology, the liasion was very interested in checking out my work and website and we all know that word-of-mouth is better than any promo event you can create!!

So, what do you think?

Winter is definitely here

I remember most of last year before Christmas was as green as the spring here....very unusual. A green Christmas is as unusual up here as a white Christmas is in California.

This year however, winter is coming in with a vengence. This is the second 'ice day' the kids have had off school (like a snow day but freezing rain instead). This after a minor blizzard yesterday. I like the snow, it can be fun but the freezing rain and ice I can do without.

Still, we did get to go sledding yesterday down our big hill in front of our house. And, since the kids are home from school today, we can dive into the Christmas boxes hubby brought down yesterday and decorate the house for the holidays!

NOW in PRINT!

I am over the moon because Wanna Make a Bet? is now officially in print!!
Wanna Make a Bet? is now up on Amazon.com for all the world to see!

I just want to thank you all for your support and wonderful encouragement!

Wanna make a bet?
When aspiring artist and purposefully single Sophie Montgomery mutters those four fateful words, her sexy neighbor, Jay Coltrane, pounces on the opportunity to prove she’s not as immune to him as she thinks. Before she knows it, Sophie finds herself not only betting against a seduction, she’s betting against her own ability to keep her dreams intact and a certain luscious landscaper out of them.

What people are saying:

Sophie and Jay have problems and baggage to settle along the way which only makes this a more believable story with the ups and downs of the inner battles that they both have going on. This was a realistic, delightful read, with the added romance of Julia and Dan which only strengthened the story. I would give this a book rating of five, and urge you to go to Wild Rose Press and give this book a read.
~Review from Books, Bitching,and Banter
(For full review: http://booksnbitchin.wordpress.com/2007/09/13/wanna-make-a-bet/#comment-13)

With all of Jay's friends getting married, he stands to win a sizeable bet that was made when they were all in college together since he will be the only single person left. Sophie is the sexy tenant of Jay's who babysits his bulldog, Harvey for him during the day. She is adamant that she is immune to Jay, who is a sexy playboy in her eyes. Jay jumps on a chance to show Sophie that she is not as immune to him as she thinks so in front of his friends the words "wanna make a bet" were uttered and she was not going to back down. Soon though she finds the folly of those words. What you have is a delightful read where emotions run high. I loved the book from start to finish, and would recommend it to anyone.
~Cryna Palmiere

“Lay down your money and let the dice roll, because Wanna Make a Bet is a sure thing. From a drool-worthy hero to an adorable bulldog with a thing for monkeys, this book will hook you in with its depth of characters, humor, and sizzling sensuality. I cancelled dinners and was late for appointments, all because I had to know whether it would be Jay or Sophie who won the bet. Stacy Dawn is a talent and I can’t wait for her next novel!”
~Bronwyn Storm, author

“Stacy Dawn, a master of short stories, has expanded her talent to create a sexier-than-sin hero and a sassy heroine in Wanna Make A Bet?. I was captivated from the first page, drawn into the roller-coaster ride of Jay and Sophie's romance, breathless from the first touch of Jay's hand. This story is guaranteed to put a smile on your face and in your heart.”
~Johanna Riley, author

You know you're loved when...

You have wonderful friends checking up on you. You know who you are and hugs and thanks.

Not to worry everyone, I've simply been rather busy this month temping full time out of the house plus my writing and other duties, not to mention the children, hubby, and family duties LOL.

My son lost his first tooth today. It's amazing how calm and encouraging you can be when you are cringing and flipping out on the inside LOL. Loose teeth have always freaked me out LOL.

Also, Toronto Santa Claus Parade was today!! WOOHOO!! Now, I know all you Americans feel that Christmas starts after Thanksgiving and I LOVE your Macy's Day Parade but up here, for me, it's the T.O. Santa Parade that really starts the season off for me. So let me be the first to wish you all...

Hopefully, things will slow down a bit in the next two weeks and I'll be back regularly again.

Releases this Wednesday Nov 7th!!

Once again, come find romance amongst the eccentric townsfolk of Noelle, Alberta ....

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Christmas on Parole

Welcome back to Noelle, Alberta, home of the infamous Reindeer Games, Santa Claus Holloran, and a fifteen foot Rudolph monument welcoming you to town—that was, before Deke Halls ran his semi into it. Even though it was an accident, thanks to the beautiful but annoying judge, instead of heading to Bermuda for a holiday vacation, he’s spending Christmas on parole.

Laney McGovern wasn’t about to let the good-for-nothing trucker get away with reckless driving and decapitating the town’s historical monument. She’d divorced his arrogant type before—all good old boy smiles but selfish as the Grinch. Sentencing him to community service with each of the six founding families seemed like a just punishment, but when the eccentric townsfolk begin to embrace the handsome cowboy, this judge slowly discovers not all offenders of the heart are the same. Only problem is, she doesn’t know if she wants to deck the Halls or shove him under the mistletoe.

What people are saying:

Christmas on Parole is another Stacy Dawn masterpiece. The characters are endearing and sexy, and god help me I think I'm in love with Santa.
~Johanna Melaragno, author

Reindeer Games

The annual Reindeer Games between the Holloran and the Nickles families is legendary in their little town of Noelle, Alberta. This year, however, the competition gets kicked up a notch when Jess Holloran discovers winning the games may just mean losing her heart.

Tis the season...

....for colds.

Ugh, what I hate most is that it takes you right out of your forward momentumn. Organization goes down the tubes when all you want to do is curl up on the couch and sleep for the day LOL.

I did watch a couple good movies though. Something I haven't taken the time for in a long time. So maybe it's just he universes way of saying you need a break. Sheesh, they could have been more subtle about it LOL

Let Loose

My husband made the mistake (much to my glee) of letting me lose on my own in a craft store. Squeeeeeeee!

It's been ages since I was in a craft store let alone left by myself with no one hovering and rushing me. Glory be there is a lot of new stuff out these days! I was good though, I kept to budget (for the most part he he he) and got some great deals to boot.

I have two bazaars I do every Christmas season and my stocks were running low so I HAD to go shopping for supplies (sounds plausible right? Yeah, hubby believed it too LOL)

Rolling in..

Oh man, I am soooooo stuffed, even this morning. Being our Thanksgiving, I went the distance and did the whole dinner thing. My hubby's not a fan of turkey so I cooked up a big chicken, potatoes, peas, stuffing and we had fresh buns and pickles and apple pie and pumpkin pie too. Don't laugh but I made my first batch of mashed potatoes ever LOL. Again, hubby prefers roasted but my children are just starting to eat mashed so I made both....did pretty good too LOL.

But I am stuffed....and it's Monday. The good part of today is that it's a holiday...the bad part is that I have a house in dire need of cleaning, a story in dire need of finishing, and edits to boot and this is how I feel LOL....

Hope all my fellow Canadians had a great Thanksgiving and for out of countriers...hope you have a great week!

Having Fun

Busy busy busy but we're having fun so that's all that matters. Lots going on including a new newletter out soon so if you haven't signed up, it's over there on the right.

I'm working on some hunky cowboys, one is up to his eyes with the law in Christmas on Parole coming this season to the Wild Rose Press. The other two won't be too far behind either. Life is just good when there are cowboys in it LOL

All the leaves are changeing outside my windows and down the lanes and are soooo gorgeous. I'm gonna have to remember to take a picture for all of you to see. Yes, I fight the loss of summer as much as possible but glory in the colors of fall when I finally see them LOL.

What about you? What's keeping you busy and are you having fun?

Thursday partying with the bistro babes with Romance Bistro on Tour at Beth Wylde's Group Having a tour party with Romance Bistro on Tour

Oh, and here's some of the presents I already got:

I loved this short story. Stacy Dawn had me laughing from start to finish, and my only complaint is that this isn’t longer. I’d love to see what happens next between Bridget and Jonas. She’s a spirited woman who knows her own mind. He’s so darn handsome, even with his six-shooter off his hip that I would love to see these two after they leave the saloon. This is a charming slice of life that I know I’ll read again. Lively characters, vivid images and an amusing plot all make Standoff at the Waterin’ Horse Saloon a great read.

Wow. This is such a cute, funny story. Stacy Dawn has managed to pack the pages full of action, humor and intensity. I found myself laughing out loud in the first paragraph and I didn’t stop until the very last word!
Bridgit Schneider figures she's been jilted, so she stomps into the saloon determined to give the no-account a piece of her mind. What follows are eight hilarious, action-packed pages that will completely enchant you. Although short and sweet, this story introduces two dynamic characters who draw you into the drama and into their lives. I found myself thinking of these characters long after the story was finished. I’m giving it five books! Any story that can hook you in a few paragraphs, create friends within a few pages and leave its imprint on your mind after so short a time deserves the praise. This one does all that and more! I will be keeping my eyes open for more wonderful works by Ms. Dawn!

It's down there on the right side and I'll be holding special newsletter drives and anyone who joins will be entered in ALL my contests--and there's a good one coming up for Wanna Make A Bet? in October so sign up now so you don't miss it!

Bare Naked Funny

Okay, for those of you who don't know, these guys are a very popular Canadian band called the Barenaked Ladies.....songs you may recognize are If I had a Million Dollars, Be My Yoko-Ono, and Brian Wilson.

So, my husband and 6 year old son--both sports freaks--start watching tonight's Blue Jays baseball game and because it's a special dedication night to the families of 9/11, they brought the famous band in to do the National Anthems. So, the announcers says, "When we return, the Barenaked Ladies will be here to sing the National Anthems." A few commercials come and go and the announcers are back introducing the band.
Next thing I hear is my son's puzzled voice saying, "But they're not ladies or bare naked!"
ROFL! I swear I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard!!

Has it really been a week since I blogged last. Sheesh, time goes fast.

How're y'all making out with the school routines? This is the first year I have one going everyday. Hmm, can't plan things during the week anymore LOL.

Seems I'm doing a million things at once but nothing serious is getting done...know what I mean? Only one is my writing and that's a little itty bitty piece of time just like my promoing...gotta get a move on that again.

Other than that, things are good on the homestead, just a bit busy as I'm sure you all are. Sometimes I feel like I'd just like to hold my breath and float away for a little bit LOL....

Reviews...

Had some great reviews come into my inbox this weekend!!

Standoff at the Waterin' Horse Saloon
5 Angels from Fallen Angel Reviews!
Standoff at the Waterin’ Horse Saloon is laugh-out-loud funny and perfectly romantic. I smiled from the first word until the last. Bridget Schneider is a woman who doesn’t take lightly to having her affections played with. She learns that the man she loves, Jonas Decker, is at the Waterin’ Horse Saloon. Making friends with one of the girls who works in the saloon has gotten her inside the establishment. She storms into the private room where Jonas is to find him completely naked in the bathtub. With steely determination Bridget doesn’t let his unclothed state deter her from what she’s come to do—give him a piece of her mind for leaving her the way he did.

Take me out to the Ballgame....

My husband is on holidays so we had a family fun day at the Toronto

Blue Jays game yesterday. It's extra cool for the boys because we drive half way then take the Go-Train for the second half of the trip. The Rogers Center is right beside the CN Tower and this is a shot from inside with the dome open.

Here are my baseball fans complete with their team hats and shirts.

Inside the center they have a fun zone area for the kids with a little playground, a simulated batting and pitching cage and a big carpet marked out with the bases. This is the boys running the rug.
The game was fun and we had pretty good seats in general to see everything. My oldest is a die hard fan and sits without moving while scoring the game with his Dad. He's been to a few games but this was my youngest's first. I figured after the first pitch of the game when he said can we go back to the fun zone, he wasn't going to be too into the game. After the third pitch when he said, "You promised if I got bored we could go for a walk" that this would probably be his last game for the season too LOL. So I took him out to play more, we had a long walk, came back and about two innings later this was my baby boy....
Isn't he adorable!
They were really good boys though and after the game kids were allowed to go down on the field and run the real bases. Now that, was cool for them.

All in all we had a great time and lots of fun.

It's Halloween!

We visited a friend's trailer this weekend and the park had a special day for all the kids...Halloween! It was so much fun! They all dressed up and did crafts then went trick-or-treating around the park.

Here they are in their costumes...

...as you can see, the people at the park went all out in the decorating too. Now, for kids who are used to ten houses at Halloween, this was a real TREAT!!

Oh, and see my big baseball player there? I'll just brag for a minute and tell you he got the MVP award for his baseball team this year...can you say proud mama LOL!

ESCAPE THE MONDAYN

Welcome to the Sensibly Insane Channel's August editon of ESCAPE the Mondayn. I'm your hostess, Stacy Dawn, and couldn't be happier to be bringing you another episode!

I'd also like to invite you to join me at Princesses of the Pen : A group of authors whose tiaras are a little crooked as is our outlook on writing, love, and life. I'll be blogging there every Monday--starting today!

What's that? The sound of hooves? Hmmm, must be our guest spinner arriving. Please give a warm (or rather heated) round of applause for our sexy mystery spinner. Can you blame me, ladies, when I come across a scrumptious delight as this? Every woman's fantasy come to life.

**fans herself** I best get on with the gameshow before I swoon.

Please great sir, can you break from your quest, dismount your fine steed and spin our prize wheel for the maidens in the audience.

Tickety-Tickety-tickety-tickety....tickety-tickety-tickety...tickety-tickety...tickety...tick.

The spinner landed on a golden treasure trove! A golden package filled with treasures and delivered to the beautiful maiden who wins this episode's escape. (Sorry though, delivered not by our hero but by a regular postal worker--some things must stay fantasy you know *wink*)

A special secondary gift of a FUN-STUFFED ENVELOPE goes to the first person who participates AND can tell me the true name of our mystery prince!

And now for your escape:

You are taking your regular evening jog. The burn in your chest and wind in your hair helping to settle the busy day you've had. Without warning you are jarred from behind, sending you tumbling down a rocky embankment. When the pain in your head settles and your eyes squeak open, there, kneeling beside you is.....

Give me two lines or give me twenty, it doesn't matter but let yourself escape and continue your story! Are you here, are you there, are you a thousand years ahead or a thousand years behind? Close your eyes to the mundane day your having and let yourself....

This will be a TWO DAY event this month and I'll post the Winner on Wednesday!

Again, don't forget to check out a royally wild new blog at
Princess of the Pen!
One more thing...how do you like the new look? It matches my new website www.stacydawn.com ! Pop by for a visit!
